How to play
Ranks, strongest first: commander-in-chief (Cmd), corps (Cor), division (Div), brigade (Bde), regiment (Reg), battalion (Bn), company (Coy), platoon (Plt), engineer (Eng). Special pieces: Mine, Flag and Bomb.
Each side has 25 pieces. All start face down, placed at random on the squares outside the camps. The first player is chosen at random.
Each turn, flip a face-down piece or move one of your face-up pieces. Whoever flips the same color twice in a row takes that color, and the opponent takes the other. Until colors are decided, you can only flip.
Pieces move one step along roads, or any distance in a straight line along a clear railway; only engineers can turn on the railway. Flags and mines cannot move. Headquarters are only markings, with no special rules.
You can only attack the opponent's face-up pieces, and pieces in camps cannot be attacked. Higher ranks capture lower, equal ranks destroy each other, and a lower rank may not attack a higher one. A bomb and any piece it meets destroy each other, mines included. Only engineers can clear mines; no other piece may attack a mine.
A side's flag can be captured only after all 3 of its mines have been cleared and no face-down pieces remain on the board. Capture the opponent's flag to win.
You win when your opponent has no movable pieces left, or has no legal move on their turn. If 60 moves in a row (both sides combined) pass with neither a flip nor a combat, the game is a draw.
Online games allow 30 seconds per move; on timeout a move is made for you and auto-play takes over. Leaving mid-game counts as a loss. Offline games are untimed.

Frequently asked questions
When can the opponent's flag be captured?
If you flip red pieces twice in a row, you play Red. Later your opponent flips a brigade commander: your division commander can capture it, but your regiment commander may not attack it. If it hides in a camp, nobody can attack it. The opponent's flag can only be captured after all 3 of their mines are cleared and no face-down pieces remain, so don't trade your engineers away lightly; save them for clearing mines.
