How to play
Yut Nori (윷놀이) is a traditional Korean board game. 2–4 players each have 4 pieces and take turns throwing four yut sticks (윷), moving by the result around a board of 29 stations. The first player to bring every piece all the way round and home wins.
Count the sticks that land flat side up: 1 is 도 (do, 1 step), 2 is 개 (gae, 2), 3 is 걸 (geol, 3), 4 is 윷 (yut, 4) and none is 모 (mo, 5). If only the marked stick lands flat side up it is 빽도 (back-do): move 1 step back.
윷 and 모 earn another throw, and so does capturing an opponent. The results collected in a turn can be used in any order on any pieces, but every usable result must be used; a 빽도 thrown with no piece on the board is lost.
Pieces start from the bottom-right corner and travel counter-clockwise around the edge. A piece that stops exactly on the top-right corner, the top-left corner or the centre takes the diagonal shortcut on its next move.
Landing on your own piece stacks them (업기, upgi) and they move together from then on; landing on an opponent captures the whole stack and sends it back off the board.
A piece is home only once it passes the start; stopping exactly on the start still needs one more step. Online games allow 15 seconds per action; on timeout a move is made for you and auto-play takes over.
