How to play
Before the game each player picks one of four horse–elephant setups. Cho then moves first and the players alternate; checkmate the opposing general to win.
There is no river. The palaces have diagonal lines: the general and guards move one step along the palace lines and never leave the palace; chariots, cannons and soldiers may also use the palace diagonals.
A cannon must jump exactly one piece to move or capture, and it can neither jump over nor capture another cannon. Horses and elephants are blocked by pieces in their path.
You may pass when not in check. Consecutive passes, an unbroken bikjang (generals facing each other after the first capture), a threefold repetition or 200 moves end the game on material points (Han gets +1.5).
Undo is available offline. Online games use main time plus byoyomi: running out of time loses, sides swap every game, and leaving mid-game loses.
